Forgiveness and Letting go

When people hear the word forgiveness, they often assume it means allowing someone back into your life. But forgiveness does not require reconciliation. Forgiveness is for your peace, so you can let go and move forward.

There’s a saying: Unforgiveness is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die. Holding onto hurt only harms you. Forgiving someone doesn’t mean they deserve access to you again.

Growth requires leaving behind what was holding you back. If certain people bring anxiety instead of peace, it’s okay to let them go. Not everyone is meant to walk with you into your next season. Releasing them allows you to move forward and receive the blessings God has prepared for you.

Sometimes surrendering to God means leaving people behind and that’s okay. Choosing growth, peace, and obedience to God may require distance from those who hinder your spiritual journey.

Being a Christian does not mean having no boundaries or allowing people to disrespect your values, standards, or identity. Faith includes wisdom, discernment, and knowing when to let go.

At times, moving forward means trusting God, releasing what no longer serves you, and continuing ahead in faith. That’s how you make room for the blessings He has for you.

Recently, I led a Bible study on letting go and making room for the blessings God has for us. Sometimes, when we refuse to let things go, we end up blocking our own blessings. God desires to bless us, but we stay comfortable in what we’re used to instead of releasing it and preparing our hearts for what He wants to do next.

Many times, God has already made promises over our lives, yet we don’t receive them not because of the people around us, but because we ourselves are not prepared. We hold onto things we were never meant to carry into the next season.

Luke 9:23 reminds us to deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow Him. That means surrendering everything to God. Sometimes it requires laying down what we like, what feels familiar, or what feels comfortable so we can grow into who God is calling us to be.

Letting go isn’t loss it’s obedience. And obedience is what positions us to receive the blessings God has already prepared for us. May God bless you all
